Charles Plopper
PRESIDENT
Charlie served as a Professor with the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis, for 26 years prior to retirement in 2006. Before joining the U.C. Davis faculty, he served as a biomedical research scientist with the U.S. Army Medical Corps, Univ. of Hawaii Burns School of Medicine faculty, Univ. of Kuwait School of Medicine and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. His research focused on cell and developmental biology of the respiratory system and the impact of toxic pollutants on the lungs of fetuses, infants and young adults. He also trained over 140 Ph.D. students, the majority of whom were highly qualified women.
He has a Ph.D. in Anatomy with specializations in Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of California at Davis.

Ann Hancock
SECRETARY
Ann co-founded The Climate Center in 2001 and was Executive Director until 2019 when the successor she recruited became CEO. Ann then served as Chief Strategist until 2021. With the vision of making Sonoma County a model for the rest of the country, Ann grew The Climate Center to become an award-winning, precedent-setting, high-impact organization.
With over 35 years in leadership and organizing, and a recipient of multiple awards, Ann has been a sustainability planner for the County of Marin, commentator for TomPaine.com, and human sexuality instructor at Humboldt State University, among other positions.
She has a Masters in Public Health Administration and Planning from the University of California, Berkeley.

Suzanne Plopper
TREASURER
Suzanne served as a health educator in the Peace Corps (1967-1969) and on a USAID-funded Rural Water Supply/Primary Health Care Project (1981-1983), both in Burkina Faso; and as a health educator, then trainer for Planned Parenthood in Sacramento and San Francisco, contracted to the CA State Health Department (1970-1975). From 1984 until her retirement in 2006, she was a trainer in reproductive health in 26 countries in Africa and in Turkey, Romania and the Republic of Georgia, focused largely on quality-of-care issues in the delivery of reproductive health services.
Suzanne was awarded an Ordre du Merite Burkinabe by the Government of Burkina Faso on Independence Day 2011 for her support for girls’ education in Burkina Faso.
She studied Public Health Administration and Planning at the University of California, Berkeley and has a Masters in International Health and Maternal & Child Health from the University of Hawaii.
